James White and Anne Madden, two ardent vegetarians, established the organization more than 21 years ago. Since there was a severe lack of high-quality, vegetarian food at the time, they set out to provide it without any artificial flavors or colors. As the business expanded, the company's founders learned about the advantages of producing and eating organic food, so they began designing their products in accordance with the strict guidelines set by the European Union for the production of organic foods. They currently sell more than 80% organic products, and they will continue to do so unless there is an incredibly strong reason not to. Despite the UK's rapid expansion of organic products, they still conduct business in line with their core moral principles.
